Nestled along the Wild Atlantic Way just 3 km from the Armada Hotel lies the Gate Lodge at the Armada Farm. Our newest addition of self-catering accommodation in West Clare. The carefully restored Gate Lodge building is quintessentially an early -Victorian lodge dating back to 1837 on the grounds of the Butler Families coastal retreat known as ‘Aran View House’. The Gate Lodge formed the home of the caretaker to the Butler Family who had been the Earl of Ormond in Co. Tipperary dating back to the twelfth century.

From your morning cup of tea to the moment you slip between the sheets, every aspect of The Gate Lodge at the Armada Farm has been carefully and lovingly considered so you can enjoy a secluded self-catering hideaway like no other! An idyllic setting for couples looking to retreat & unwind or for those looking to immerse themselves in nature by reconnecting with the great outdoors.

Inspired by our unique location in a tranquil environment overlooking White Strand Bay and the Cliffs of Moher, this self-catering private property has been sustainably restored in an unique way with its minimalistic interiors yet bold design where the tender work of the original owner still shows today with its exposed original stonework walls and flagstone window sills.

Blended in with its natural surroundings the back garden allows you to conclude your day by enjoying oriental bathing in our oversized ‘Ofuro’ outdoor seaweed bath with hand harvested seaweed from the shores of Spanish Point where you can awaken the body and soul with an outdoor plunge bucket shower. Dining al fresco has never been easier with the feeling of indoor/ outdoor living at the farm where you can indulge in some home grown produce or sink into the oversized sofa and unwind as the dogs snooze at your feet.

Beyond the Gate Lodge front lawn lies what was once the Aran View House and our walled kitchen gardens, tucked away in the grounds of the tired Aran View House, the real heartbeat of our kitchens at the Armada. By roaming freely around the farm you will find over 90 planted fresh produce beds, 2 Polly tunnels, a chicken coop, Apple Orchards, Aran View House restored wishing well and a 360m exploration walk around the farm where you will be greeted by various animals which could include Alpaca’s, miniature Shetland ponies, sheep and lambs.

While staying at the Gate Lodge you will enjoy easy access to West Clare’s many historical and scenic attractions or simply immerse yourself in farm life by collecting your free-range eggs for breakfast, organic vegetables or pick fresh herbs for your pizza.

**Please note that The Gate Lodge at the Armada Farm was designed as a couples retreat but could accommodate 2 small children.

**The Gate Lodge is an historic building and is not wheelchair accessible.
